Remember Your Non-Profits at Christmas!

Non-profit arts organizations spend a tremendous amount of time planning, installing exhibits, rehearsing, and marketing their events. Non-profits, especially in this economic climate, often operate on a shoestring budget and are truly in it for the love and passion they have for the arts. As you think about completing your end-of-year gift giving, please consider including one of our local non-profits, arts-related or otherwise, in your budget. They value every penny!

Consider the five non-profit theater organizations in our region and what it takes for them to provide you with just one evening of enjoyment. The performing rights usually cost $75.00 per performance (special musicals like, "Always, Paty Cline" the Rialto Theater is producing again this year cost $300.00 per night) to produce. They have at least four rehearsals a week for two-plus months before opening night. On top of that, they have sets to build, set dressing to complete, wardrobes to finalize, and music to learn. They have concessions, posters, and playbills to purchase and distribute. Then, of course, there's the overhead related to even having a space to perform in: water, electric, rent, etc.

It truly takes a village to appreciate AND support the arts. Come play a part during the holidays and start the year off right by supporting your local non-profits through donations of your time and/or money. They can't do it without you!
